STEWART
Toronto - the city that is mistakingly thought of as Canada’s capital. I like to think of Toronto as Canada’s version of New York City. There is so much to do in Toronto anywhere from shopping and sports entertainment to museums and aquariums.
Whether you’re someone who wants to go for a more casual bar scene or someone who likes to listen to techno music and rave - Toronto has a bar or club for you.
Toybox | 473 Adelaide St W
Starting off with Toybox, this place was absolutely insane. If you’re someone who can’t handle strobe lights and air cannons going off then this place is definitely not for you. This bar felt like you bought a ticket to Cirque de Soleil and the show was happening all around you.
The particular evening I went, they had women dancing in exotic costumes on tables and they brought out several people in stilts. When they brought out the people on stilts it was quite scary if I’m being honest. The last thing you ever want is someone on those things losing their balance and fall on you. Nonetheless, it was still a great atmosphere (other than the $13 drinks).
REBEL | 11 Polson Street
The next night we made our way over to REBEL. This bar has a room for every kind of music taste. The venue itself can hold almost 5,000 people and has a breathtaking view of the Toronto skyline. Again, this bar was not relaxed in the least because of how big it was. They pride themselves on their bar being an “act of rebellion” in comparison to other nightlife in the city. The atmosphere in this bar was very high energy and you couldn’t not have a good time with a room for every music taste. This is definitely a place to check out if you’re in the city. They have a tight dress code and do not allow you to wear any athletic/sports gear, track pants, hats etc.
Belfast Love Public House | 548 King St W
Belfast Love Public House is a basement bar that has dim lighting but you’re able to walk around and meet new people (no need to scream at the tops of your lungs to get your point across here). The drinks are expensive but that’s the price you pay when you travel to a big city. When I visited this bar in the summer they had the movie Chucky playing on various screens, which was very odd since there was no sound. Overall, this bar would please anyone that wants to go to the bar to meet new people, try some fancy cocktails and listen to new music.
Apt. 200 | 1034 Queen St W
Apt. 200 is another one of my favourite relaxed atmosphere bars. What’s interesting about this bar is that not only do they also have a location in Montréal, but they have various video game consoles and pool tables to entertain your group. This bar was definitely the most relaxed that I’ve visited so far. They have a super unique look with various different light fixtures as well as various accent walls to make the room bigger than it actually is.
Toronto is a great place for nightlife and these 4 bars are by far my favourite to check out so far. If you guys have any recommendations for bars I should check out, feel free to leave me an email and I'll be sure to take a look. Also, if any of you have been to these bars I would love to hear your experience through email or the comment box down below! Don't be afraid to check out either of the two more "rave" bars above - I promise you won't regret it. Lastly, if you have any suggestions for where I should travel to next and write about, let me know down below.
Love yourselves,
xoxo
